About SleepGrids

A simple sleep and habit tracker for iPhone — built because we couldn't figure out why we were always tired.

Why we built it

A few years ago, my friends and I started noticing something: our sleep was getting worse, and we had no idea why. We were getting the hours. We were going to bed at reasonable times. But we'd wake up feeling flat, groggy, or just... off. Especially after turning 30.

We tried the usual advice — cut caffeine, no screens before bed, consistent wake times. Some of it helped. Some of it didn't. The problem was we had no way of knowing what was actually making a difference for us specifically. Generic advice doesn't account for your life, your habits, your patterns.

What we wanted was simple: a way to see our own data. Not a complicated health dashboard. Not a wearable that guesses at sleep stages. Just a clear, honest record of when we slept, how we felt, and what we did each day — laid out visually so the patterns could speak for themselves.

SleepGrids is the app we built to answer that question — for ourselves first, and then for anyone else dealing with the same fog.

What SleepGrids does

SleepGrids is a sleep and habit tracker for iPhone. Every day, you log two things: how long you slept and how you feel in the morning. In the evening, you check off a handful of habits — things like caffeine timing, alcohol, exercise, or screen time — whatever you've decided matters.

It takes about 10 seconds each time. No lengthy questionnaires, no complex setup.

After a few weeks, your grid starts to fill in. And that's where things get interesting. You stop looking at individual nights and start seeing patterns — the habits that reliably precede good sleep, the ones that quietly cost you energy, the weekly rhythms you'd never noticed before.

Your data stays on your device. We don't track you, sell your information, or require an account. Everything is stored locally with optional iCloud backup — private by default, and always under your control.

Who it's for

SleepGrids is for people who want to understand their own sleep — not be handed a score and told to sleep better. It's for people in their 30s, 40s, and beyond who've noticed their sleep has shifted and want to know why. It's for anyone who's tried the generic advice and found it only partially applies to them.

You don't need a smartwatch. You don't need to be a biohacker. You just need five minutes a day and some curiosity about yourself.
